Beggars Can't Be Choosers

There are things I see on occasion that make everything else freeze around me. It's a strange mixture of confusion, nostalgia, gidddiness and admiration. After the meeting, I always want to experience more but of course, these chance meeting are beyond our control. I am reminded that beggars can't be choosers.
For all it’s wonderful post-apocalyptic cheesiness.  The third in this trilogy was by far not the best but a great romp none-theless.  As a kid, I think science fiction and fantasy films were one of the few things my Dad and I bonded over.  It was one of those things that I felt proud of growing up — MY DAD showed me these movies.

This is a candy store I just found out about in Montreal.  I must visit this place before I die.  Nothing brings me quicker back to childhood than hard to find old fashioned candy.

This is my latest inspiration for a drawing series.  It stems from watching a documentary on origami called, Between the Folds, 2008.  In it, Paul Jackson creates beautiful shapes using just one fold.  The simplistic idea of this blew me away!

There’s something about Sally Mann’s photos of her children that bring me home. They take me back to that place when I was a child.  I feel what I would or could have been as a little girl when no one was looking.

This work by aboriginal artist Jon Federov hit me today square in the face reminding me of a recent conversation my husband had with me about how much I would hate working in office culture.  Federov’s twist on spiritualism in the modern day is dark yet delightful.
